Ph.D. Jivan Mukta is a teacher, author, and spiritual mentor who organically combines his academic education with extensive experience in yoga and meditation. With a unique understanding of human metaphysics and biomechanics, he shares his vast knowledge in Kundalini Yoga teacher training programs. He masterfully guides spaces of transformation and healing, where participants experience profound breakthroughs.
Jivan Mukta (J. F. LaFontaine) was born in Santiago, Chile in 1977. From a young age, he felt drawn to the spiritual path. At the age of 23, he began a daily practice of yoga, prayer, and meditation. Later, he became a certified Kundalini Yoga instructor (2003). He also earned dual degrees in Political Science (2001) and History (2002). In Santiago, he worked as a teaching assistant and later as a professor at various universities. In 2003, he moved to Spain to pursue graduate studies in Comparative Religion at Complutense University of Madrid. In 2005, he settled in Finland.
Over the next 14 years, Jivan Mukta underwent profound transformations. While in Finland, he deepened his yoga practice, founded the Finnish Kundalini Yoga Association (2006), and developed the Meditative Healing program (2011) after in-depth study of meditative healing arts. In 2016, he completed and published his research on 3HO in light of experiential insights, earning his Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the University of Helsinki, and also lectured on Sikhism at the university.
The Kundalini Yoga teacher training programs led by Jivan adhere to KRI standards, and upon completion, participants receive a KRI certification.
